Perimeter Spam Screening

Safe Links Spam Screening works in conjunction with your current spam screening equipment or can completely replace it. In this scenario you would have your own equipment and it would be catching 'most' of the spam you are receiving or you would no equipment and use ours.

This service sits outside of your network at our facility and prescreens the spam using our spam equipment. Our equipment is maintained at a very high level of sophistication and can screen out much more of the spam by way of ip addresses, keywords and rules that your administrator may not have time to do.

By doing this you will be able to hit a 95%+ rate of spam detection and eliminate all know viruses and threats from your network via email .Customers redirect their MX records (Internet mail exchanger) to our facility and then we redirect the mail back to your Exchange or POP3 email server. This database is continually updated by Safe Links and is based on an analysis of worldwide email traffic and third-party real-time black hole lists (RBLs).

Messages will also be filtered through our worm and virus detection engine, which identifies and intercepts zero-hour mass mailing worms and viruses.

If a message includes a sending IP address found in the database or is found to contain a virus or worm, delivery will be denied and the connection will be immediately dropped before the message can enter the customer’s network.

Spam Sniffer

Spam Sniffer is an Email Scanning Service that uses pattern recognition and a regularly updated rules to accurately identify spam. The technology currently is used in email security systems protecting everything from businesses to schools.

Spam Sniffer's goal is to capture more than 95% of spam when implemented in a managed environment. In addition, we are continually enhancing the system and delivering updates at no extra cost to users. Our system is a high-availability production system that eliminates client-side software or configuration changes.

Spam Sniffer's rules are created through a collaboration of automated systems and people. The system is designed as a large-scale learning system where humans and machines collaborate to produce the filtering rules. The machines have strengths that people do not have, such as comparing features on messages. The people contribute insight that the machine cannot provide, such as recognizing a new spam. The entire system evolves rapidly and retains what it learns as it moves forward.

Multi-Language Support

This filter provides a global view of spam traffic, which enables us to defend against real-time spam attacks and rapidly identify zero-hour spam, regardless of language. The filter is also effective at identifying image-based spam and phishing emails.

Zero Hour Protection

Email DoS Protection

Email Attack Protection from Safe Links provides real-time monitoring and analysis of incoming messaging traffic, conceals critical messaging gateways and shields groupware email servers from these SMTP-based attacks. By pointing your Mail Exchange (MX) record to our Servers, you can conceal your Internet-facing mail servers and remove the threat of anonymous connections.

With Safe Links unique MX record hiding, malicious traffic is identified and quarantined at the network perimeter before reaching your network. Our multi-layered approach to this allows our system to remain highly available and redundant should your mail become subject of an attack.

Fraud/Phising Protection

Phishing attacks employ common spam techniques to distribute official-looking fraudulent emails designed to trick consumers into disclosing their credit card numbers, bank account information, Social Security numbers, passwords, or other sensitive information. Safe Links specifically programs its multi-layered spam filtering techniques to identify and block phishing emails from inbound email.

Reporting

The Spam Server contains numerous end-user features that allow for individual tuning and greatly enhance the accuracy of our spam filtering.

  • User Based Filtering.  The Barracuda Spam Firewall can be configured to set spam policies by the end-user on an individualized basis or on a global corporate level.

  • Individual Spam Scoring.  The individual spam scoring feature allows end-users to set their individual thresholds for spam tolerance providing personalized control over spam policies.

  • Personal Allow and Block Lists.  The Barracuda Spam Firewall can be configured to allow end-users to have control over their individual allow and block lists which further reduces the chance of false positives.

  • Digest Emails.  A daily email is sent to all end-users with a quarantine account summarizing the contents of their individual quarantine mailboxes.

  • Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes Integration.  Barracuda Networks provides a software plug-in for both Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes end-users. With this tool, users can classify messages as spam or not spam in order to fine-tune the filtering and further eliminate any chance of false positives.
 
Quarantine
The Spam Server provides the ability to setup quarantine mailboxes where users can direct questionable email for later review. This greatly reduces the support load for large organizations.

Message ContinuityProvides Web-based email access, management and use and unlimited storage. All email inbound and outbound can be copied to our SAN and stored for as long as you want it to be there. During an outage, all inbound and outbound mail continues to be filtered by our system and stored so you can retrieve it online. Email can be retrieved later or your business can continue to function normally once service is restored.

Fail Over
Out systems are redundant and in case we have a system failure we can fail over to other systems that will continue to accept mail and filter it according to the rules you have defined.
Email Aliasing
Safe Links allows it customers the use of our domain to create as many email aliases or "fake" email addresses they can change whenever they want. This is particularly useful on web sites used for shopping, blogs, chat rooms and anywhere else you do not want to expose your real email address. All of these email aliases you create will still be sent to your regular inbox and no configuration is needed on the customers side.
